Dale Street Bistro Cafe - A historic "Painted Lady"

The term "painted lady" has a double meaning.

It was often used to refer to "soiled doves" of the Old West, who painted their faces with makeup when respectable women did not wear makeup.

.
House of that same era painted in multi-colored schemes are also referred to as "Painted Ladies."

Accorrding to contemporary standards, to qualify as a true Painted Lady, the house must meet 3 important criteria.

The house must be a balance of color, architecture, and painted in 3 or more contrasting colors bringing out the decorative embellishments of the house.

Dale Street Bistro Cafe supports the history and art of Colorado Springs.
